Both Right Wing and Left Wing Christians are a Problem for Christianity

Christianity especially in the United States has been infiltrated by all types of political extremes. This has left the body divided and fighting among itself. In my last post I discussed right wing republican Christians and their obsession with Donald Trump. Someone pointed out how bad progressive liberal Christians are too. I am going to talk about that in this post.

Since last year I have had some negative interactions with social justice warrior progessives that used to go to my church. One of them is a very smart man from India. He used to go to my church and once helped with with writing my job resumes. Sadly this person has become a very radicalized leftist. After the killing of George Floyd, this man who professes to be a Christian was condoning the looting and protests that followed. He was posting these views on his facebook in addition to leftist comedian Trevor Noah. When I asked this man why he was posting these views on his Facebook he reacted in a hostile way. I asked how can a Christian condone looting and rioting. Rather than using the Bible, this man tried pointing me to some “Christian Book” about justice or something. This person also quotes Angela Davis quotes on his facebook in the name of “social justice” This man argued several times with me on facebook messenger. I told I did not want to argue and it would be more helpful to talk over the phone about these things. He never did.

There is nothing wrong with Christians getting involved in social issues. What does matter is what are the causes they are getting involved in and what are the methods. In the case of Black Lives Matter, it is not ok. They are a destructive group who engages in rioting, looting, and want to get revenge on the police. Christians should have nothing to do with them. Nor should Christians be associcated with radicals such as Angela Davis. Christianity and Marxism are not compatible. That should be common knowledge for all Christians. Yet Progressive Christians have largely strayed from the Bible and are drawn to secular forms of social justice, since they believe the church won’t do anything. That is like leaving the faith. I myself am an activist, but I keep it in line with Christianity. I seek advice from my pastors. I do not engage in violence. Part of my activism involves immigration from Central America and the root causes of it

There are other former members of my church who I ended up blocking on facebook when I saw them posting videos of themselves at the destroying of statues and praising vandalism. That is a poor witness for Christ!

Many have lost sight of what our duty as Christians is to be. To be Ambassadors for Jesus Christ on this earth, to be salt and light, and to go into all the world and preach His good news of salvation. As I mentioned in my previous article, right wing christians have lost sight of this too. They are pre-occupied with preserving their American Freedoms and getting in these cultural wars. In addition viewing Donald Trump as a “messiah” They too are consumed with so much hate. It is fueled by Fox News and One America News.

The church is dangerously divided. I don’t believe many will reconcile, but go deeper in their echo chambers of anger. Satan enjoys this. When Christianity is bitterly divided and fighting itself, less people will hear the Gospel and churches collapse.

Christians in persecuted countries have more unity than many Christians do in the United States. Thankfully many Christians here on WordPress are still sane and rational and focused on what is most important.

My Letter Campaign to Congress

Since 2016 I have been writing letters to US Congress and the Senate.

In 2015, I began becoming more interested in learning about central american migrants and where they were coming from. It was in 2015 that I took a class at my University named Latin American Cinema and learned in detail about Latin American dictatorships of the 20th century and how the US Government put some of those dictators in power and supported their repression during the Cold War. I was horrified to learn that my government did these things! I was 23 years old at the time. So at the same time I learned that most of the Central American Migrants come from Honduras πŸ‡πŸ‡³ in Central America. So I began reading into why this was happening and learned that a military coup had happened in Honduras back in 2009, and ever since then the country has been ruled by a very repressive and corrupt government that kills their own people. On top of that I was horrified to learn that the US Government is close allies with the Honduran Regime and has had a military base there since 1983 and gives military aid to that country, which is used to repress the Honduran People.

The Lord put in on my heart to want to do something! I felt very compelled since my father and his family came from Guatemala πŸ‡¬πŸ‡Ή and fled during the Civil War in the 1970s. In that situation the US Government was giving lots of military aid to the Military Dictatorship of Guatemala as they massacred their own people for 30 years, and it caused lots of mass migration of Guatemalans coming to the US illegally in those years. I wanted to do something about this problem. So in 2016 I began writing letters to Congress.

I am still writing letters to this day. I started by writing to all the State Representatives of my state of California and my 2 Senators. After completing that I began writing to all 100 Senators of the US Government urging them to end military aid to Honduras and telling them it just makes immigration from there worse. In my my letters I write about the human rights violations happening in Honduras with links from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty international and Freedom House. I also talk about high profile examples of how corrupt the government of Honduras is, with being involved in cocaine trafficking and bribes. For example the current president of Honduras Juan Orlando Hernandez has a younger brother named Tony who was arrested in Miami Florida in 2018 by the DEA caught with kilos of cocaine with him he was intending to distribute in Florida. Tony has since been convicted and court and sentenced to life in prison for cocaine smuggling since 2004.

I have since completed writing to more than 90 Senators and now I am writing to the members of Congress. I currently have 4 states left to write to out of 50. I have invested a lot of time in this. And invested money in plenty of stamps, envelopes, and printer ink.

I have so far only gotten 3 responses. I got 2 e-mail responses from my Senator Dianne Feinstein, a response from Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and Eric Swallwell also from California.

I have also been writing letters to newspapers throughout America to get them interested in this story. A few weeks ago I got a response from a journalist from Arizona named Tim Steller from the Arizona Daily Star. He enjoyed my letter and has begun writing on this subject.

Some US Senators are now proposing that we end US Military Aid to Honduras and sanction there dictator Juan Orlando Hernandez, because his brutality and corruption are undeniable at this point.

Please pray for my safety since Honduras has some consulates in my state of California and have no doubt begun to take notice of me, since I have made many videos on youtube about Honduras and many Hondurans have watched my videos. Many Hondurans enjoy my videos since I am exposing the corruption of their government, but the Honduras Government hates what I am doing. I know the Honduras Government would like to silence people like me, since they kill their own journalists in their own country. Pray that I do not get killed by some Honduras Government Agent. I am aware of the risks I am facing, but God put this issue on my heart.

I also want to add I have faced rejection and misunderstanding from Conservative people from my church and some conservatives in my Mom’s side of the family who are my White Side of the family. Since they have no context about Honduras and US Policies in that country, they think I’m lying, that I “hate” America, that I “hate” the military, and that I support illegal immigration. None of that is true, but I do not consider myself a Patriot. Some of those people stopped being friends with me at my church and some of them have yelled at me. I am experiencing consequences for my activism. But I will continue and persevere, Jesus gives me my strength.

If I ever went to visit Honduras, I would not come back alive

Honduras πŸ‡πŸ‡³ is a country that is on my mind a lot. Ever since 2015, I really started paying attention to what is happening in that Central American Country. I started studying why so many migrants are fleeing Honduras and trying to reach either Mexico πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ or the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ . Honduras is a repressive dictatorship. It is the 4th poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most violent countries in the world outside of a war zone. Their homicide rate is out of control. Ever since a military coup in June 2009, Honduras has become the nightmare that it is.

Given my family background I became very interested in this problem. My father and his brothers fled Guatemala during the 1970s, to escape the civil war in their country. The Guatemalan Civil War lasted from 1960-1996. My dad and his brothers came as refugees and came illegally to the United States. I am not a supporter of illegal immigration, but I always like to study it and the root causes of it. What is happening in Honduras today is near identical. The country is not in a state of civil war yet, but they are dangerously close to having one. I have become an activist about Honduras since 2016. I have studied the root causes of why Hondurans flee their country. The Honduran Government regularly engages in political repression including assassinating their own people (especially: journalists, human rights lawyers/activists, enviromental activists, etc.) Anyone who stands up to the Honduras Government gets killed. I want to be more involved in helping, but I don’t feel safe ever travelling to Honduras.

Since 2016, I have been writing many letters to newspapers throughout the USA to share the truth of what is happening in Honduras and explain why so many caravans of people flee from that country. I have also written letters to senators and congress urging them to do something positive in Honduras. The U.S Government is close allies with Honduras, and has been for over a 100 years. The U.S role in Honduras has been EVIL. For decades and decades the United States has been propping up terrible dictators in Honduras, that are friendly to US interests and US business interests in Honduras. American Fruit Companies have a dubious legacy in all of Central America, including Honduras. Since 1983, the United States has had a military base in Honduras. The Soto Cano Airbase. America’s Joint Task Force Bravo of U.S Southern Command continues training the military and security forces of Honduras, despite that country’s terrible human rights record. The School of the Americas Watch released a list of some of the worst Honduran Soldiers who have graduated from US Military Training programs and the crimes they did. https://soaw.org/notorious-soa-graduates-from-honduras/ The list is long and depressing.

Since I have made several videos on Youtube about Honduras, written many letters, and made blog posts about the problem, I know my name is on a list somewhere in Honduras. In the 1970s and 1980s, there were American Missionaries killed in Central America by government forces. In 1980 for example, 4 American Nuns were raped and murdered by the National Guard of El Salvador. If I were to ever visit Honduras, I will most likely be tortured and killed by that government. Even if I went with a group, that would not protect me. There are many American Churches that send missionary teams to Honduras, but they make sure not to criticize the Honduras Government. That way they stay safe. Domestic churches in Honduras, such as the Lutheran Church has decided to longer stay silent, and have protested against that dictatorship of Honduras and called for reforms. It is only a matter of time before the government starts killing some of them.

The solutions to the problems of Honduras can only be solved by the Gospel of Jesus. There needs to be more Protestant/Evangelicals in Honduras. They need the true Gospel. The Government of Honduras in its current form is a major blockade in any real change in Honduras. As long as the government of Honduras chooses to be repressive, violent, and corrupt, we will continue to see more Hondurans flee their country to come to the United States. There has to be some political reforms. Terrible politicians in Honduras either need to repent or resign. And the US Government cannot continue its current strategy in Honduras and expect anything to improve. I have a heart about this problem. Compelled by Jesus to do something. After lots of advice from Pastors at my church, it would not be wise of me to travel to Honduras. Instead I must do what I can from the Unites States. Eventually It would be great to connect to a church down in Honduras and see how I could help them from the United States. I would love to have a reliable ministry partner to help me in all this. The Covid-19 pandemic has created many delays in being able to do anything. Missionary work in Honduras has been stopped altogether in Central America due to the global pandemic.

I trust in God to protect me, but I don’t expect him to make me invincible to do really dangerous and stupid things. He gave me a brain too. I should not abuse faith, to think no one could ever kill me. Some people might say, I live in fear and have little faith. I don’t agree, since I asked 2 of my pastors for a lot of advice about this. I am also careful not to involve my church in my activities since I don’t want them to suffer any consequences for my actions, if they were to ever send a mission team to Honduras someday.
